Football begins from a single dot in the middle of the field. Within the rectangular area play takes shape.
Alex takes inspiration from the form and movement of football.
As a child the visual elements of football,
the branding, the jerseys, the boots,
the advertisements all captured my imagination
Born in the streets, graffiti is one of the purest forms of typographic expression. Drawn to its paradox, deemed immoral, unethical even disgusting, in graffiti much is hidden in a spectacle of plain sight. Its elegance only fully realised by those who can decrypt its message; still enjoyed by those who cannot. It doesn’t have a place. It finds a place.
A key space for my photographic practice,
I return frequently to streets in search of
what might be hidden in plain sight.
Graffiti is a key pillar of Hiphop culture, also born in the streets. Hiphop transformed Alex’s world view.
A cosmic soup with a lineage that tracks an arc across time, stitching together all genres that have come before it and inseparable from those that come after it, with a diversity that is impossible to capture in a single frame. Hiphop is the point from which his passion for all music is drawn.
Inter Ether is above all an alchemical medium.
An uppermost atmosphere.
It is a place where I can tap into nostalgia
and transform it to life.
Inter Ether is the visual projection of my DNA.
