From Malcom Moore’s Altered Moods Recordings label, this 12″ was released for the Freerotation festival in wales. Thankfully we can hear this online by virtue of the youtube channel for Empreinte Musical.
I came across this track in while I was trying to find out everything about Natan H, who provides one on this EP, and is one half of Gauss.
I’m caught between an undersea adventure and a late night drive to nowhere. Choose your vehicle.
Hop in, and get down.
Intro beats are interesting enough to be a 32-bar loop. Basically you are locked in and heading toward the drop point.
You’re not having fun yet, but then again you are not supposed to be having fun yet.
A transposed orchestral sample paired with a synth, draws you to descent. Introspection begins.
This is when the underworld begins to be revealed. Descending by fathoms the filters open up as you pass interesting new sounds. This is going somewhere.
Time slows down. You’re not in your world anymore. You’re somewhere else.
You’re now deep enough to be inside yourself. Reminiscing of nights out on the road with the wind in your face, no plans but to feel the breeze and the sway of the corners of the road. Lights pass you by as your thoughts are swept away to alternate versions of key events in your life.
When the hats break away and the track is reduced the main synth lines you begin to see things as they are. Like the ending of of multi-plot story line where all the different plots merge together.
You now see things as a whole interconnectedness. You are not the same person you were when you started listening. But yet, there you are.
